There have been many contestants who have taken on Queen songs for their reality TV show auditions. However, nine-year-old Brooke Burke managed to stand out with hers on The Voice Kids UK.
The judges witness a lot of amazing talent on their stage every season, so it’s important to bring something fresh, unique, and of course – be able to rock the audition as well. With Brooke, little did anyone know they were in for a real treat.
She discovered her love of music when she was just a small child.
Some people are meant to do certain things in life, and for Brooke – she was meant to perform. She began singing at the young age of two after her parents got her a guitar for her birthday.
Brooke was ready to show the world her talent – although, it’s not an easy thing to do.
She took the stage looking a little nervous. Fortunately for the contestants of The Voice Kids, the judges have no clue if they’re shaking like a leaf before they perform.
That’s the beauty of The Voice. Since the auditions take place with the judges’ backs to the singers – it allows them to be evaluated solely on their abilities, and not their looks or behavior.
Just because she’s tiny, doesn’t mean she doesn’t have a huge voice.
Musical artists will.i.am, Pixie Lott, and Danny Jones were all facing away from Brooke in their big red chairs as the music began to play. She was going to be performing Queen’s epic song, “Don’t Stop Me Now.”
The judges’ ears perked up as Brooke sang the slow intro. She has a fantastic voice for a youngster, but it was about to go to a whole new level.
She sang the lyrics,
“…and the world I’ll turn it inside out, yeah. And floating around in ecstasy…”
With those words, and in those quick moments, Brooke managed to send chills across the room. Even Danny Jones showed everyone the goosebumps that had formed on his arms.
She was just getting started.
If you’re familiar with “Don’t Stop Me Now,” you know it’s a song that takes a big twist – starting out slow, then becoming the ultimate power-pop track.
As Brooke got to, “…don’t stop me. ‘Cause I’m having a good time, having a good time,” that was it. She ditched the microphone stand and became a mini Freddie Mercury on stage.
Everyone in the crowd jumped to their feet to clap along to the performance, as Brooke had turned it into what seemed like a concert. She even ran around the stage like a little rockstar.
The judges danced along to the girl’s rendition of “Don’t Stop Me Now,” with will.i.am being the first to slam his button to swivel his chair. As she got closer to the end of her audition – it was seeming like he’d be the only one.
But then, in the very last moments – both Pixie Lott and Danny Jones turned their chairs too, meaning Brooke had impressed the entire panel. She was so overtaken by the sight that she burst into tears.
Being able to perform in front of a huge audience takes a lot of courageous. Not only did Brooke confidently do so – she also nailed it, rocked it – and she showed the world that she’s a shining star.
